How to Record Chaturbate Streams with CaptureGem
CaptureGem makes it simple to save live Chaturbate broadcasts directly to your computer — no subscriptions required for basic use. This guide walks you through setup and your first recording in under ten minutes.
What is CaptureGem?
CaptureGem is a desktop application for Windows and macOS that lets you record live streams from a wide range of cam platforms. It handles the technical side automatically — you just point it at a model's username and hit record. The app is free to download, with an optional premium tier that unlocks auto-recording and unlimited concurrent sessions.
Chaturbate is one of the most popular platforms CaptureGem supports, and the integration is rock solid. Streams are captured at their native quality, and everything is saved locally on your machine.
Before You Start
- Download and install CaptureGem from capturegem.com
- Windows 10/11 or macOS 11+ is required
- Make sure you have enough free disk space for your recordings
- A stable internet connection with reasonable download speed
Step-by-Step: Recording a Chaturbate Stream
Open CaptureGem. On first launch you'll see the Record tab. This is where all new recording sessions are started.
In the Site dropdown, select Chaturbate. This tells CaptureGem which platform's stream format to expect.
Enter the model's Chaturbate username in the Model field. Just the username — no URL, no extra text.
Click Start Recording. CaptureGem will connect to the stream and begin saving the video. You'll see a live status indicator confirm the recording is active.
To stop, click Stop Recording. The file is finalized and saved to your chosen output folder. You can change this folder in Settings → Directory.
Using the Monitor Tab
The Monitor tab gives you a live thumbnail overview of every active recording. Thumbnails refresh automatically so you can glance at several streams at once without having to juggle browser tabs. It's particularly useful when you're recording multiple Chaturbate rooms in parallel.
Reviewing Your Recordings
Once a session ends, head to the Review tab. Here you can:
- Play back any saved recording
- Trim the start or end to cut out dead air
- Add tags to help you find clips later
- Edit metadata like the model name or date
Chaturbate-Specific Tips
Custom Request Headers
If you find that certain Chaturbate streams fail to load, CaptureGem supports adding custom HTTP headers. Go to Settings → Chaturbate Headers and add any headers Chaturbate requires for your region or account level. This is rarely needed but can resolve access issues in some countries.
Recording at Full Quality
CaptureGem captures the stream exactly as Chaturbate delivers it — no re-encoding on the fly. This means the saved file reflects whatever resolution and bitrate the broadcaster is streaming at. HD broadcasts are saved in HD; there's nothing to configure on your end.
Auto-Recording with Premium
Manually starting recordings is fine for planned sessions, but if you want CaptureGem to start recording automatically whenever a favourite model comes online, that's a premium feature. After upgrading, you can mark any model as a favourite and CaptureGem polls for their status in the background. The moment they go live, recording begins — even while you're away from your computer.
Where Are My Files Saved?
By default CaptureGem stores recordings in a folder inside your Documents directory. You can change this at any time from Settings → Directory. Recordings are organized by model name so it's easy to find what you're looking for.
Troubleshooting
- Recording won't start: Double-check the username spelling. Even a single wrong character will cause a lookup failure.
- Stream cuts out after a few minutes: This usually means the model ended the broadcast. CaptureGem will stop automatically when the source stream disappears.
- Poor video quality: The quality is determined by what Chaturbate is sending. If the broadcaster is on a slow connection, the recording will reflect that.
